What Does a Typical Roof Replacement Timeline Look Like?

Major home improvements, such as replacing a new roof require proper planning. Part of preparing for your roof replacement is doing some research. The more you know about your project, the better you can plan for it. Understanding the process can also help you set more realistic expectations.

Find out what a typical roof replacement timeline looks like from leading roofing and siding contractor

A Few Days Before the Installation

A week or a few days before the actual construction begins, expect a dumpster to be delivered to your home. Another dumpster might be brought to your place if your contractor is recycling your old roof. Within this period, the new roofing material will also arrive, which could be placed on your roof or in the driveway. At this time, make sure that someone is at home to receive these items.

The Day of the Installation

Make sure to prepare your home before the roof replacement starts. It’s a good idea to temporarily relocate important or breakable items in your attic. When planning a roof or siding replacement project, your pets should also be considered. Coordinate with your contractor if your furry friends would need to be locked up during the installation. Don’t forget to let the person-in-charge know if you have any special requests, such as the workers not using your bathroom.

After the Installation

Once the new roof has been installed, your roofer will likely make a final walkthrough with you. If you have concerns about their output, let them know immediately. After the job, your contractor will do a sweep of your yard for loose nails and other debris. Days after the installation, expect the dumpster to be picked up. Someone from the roofing company may also come to your home for a general review and to get the final payment.
